Statement from Venters Solicitors

In light of the tragic killing of Breanna Taylor and more recently George Floyd on 25 May 2020, the resulting global outpouring of outrage and the widespread demand for change, we at Venters Solicitors wish to acknowledge the existence of racism that still exists in our society today and pledge our support to Black Lives Matter and all other groups and campaigners against racism and prejudice on every level.

Venters Solicitors are firmly of the view that all forms of racial injustice and discrimination have no place in our society and will do all we can in the fight to stamp it out.

We believe we have a responsibility to our clients, staff and professional colleagues to treat all fairly and without bias. We do however recognise the specific plight of black people who are currently under siege and stand firmly behind the black community, black staff and fee earners of different racial backgrounds who have no doubt experienced at some point in their lives the injustice of racism. We also recognise racism and discrimination is covert and takes many forms. Given the nature of our work, we are acutely aware of the discrimination faced by members of the black community in particular in all areas of the legal and justice system.

We are committed to being part of the solution to make a change for the benefit of our clients, staff, professional colleagues and the wider community as a whole. Notwithstanding our long held policy on diversity and equality, in our quest to make a difference, we ask that you the public let us know of anything we can do to make your experience with us a better one with regard to these issues.
