Tribute to Damian Norris

It saddens me to have to announce that on Monday 6th August 2018 Damian Norris died.

Damian faced a battle with a cruel illness with bravery and humility. He considered himself “lucky” to have been given the opportunity to be surrounded by family and friends and felt humbled by the love and affection everyone clearly felt for him. What he didn’t, perhaps, appreciate is that it was us that were the lucky ones to have known him.

I will remember Damian as a loving and proud husband and father, a fine solicitor, a supportive colleague, a talented musician, artist and thespian and a fun person.

I speak for all my staff and colleagues when I say that we all believe we are richer in spirit for having known and worked with Damian. He leaves behind a legacy of memories we all share of someone we were so pleased to have known, someone who had such a positive influence and someone we will remember forever.

Knowing Damian’s love of Shakespeare, it seems fitting to end with an apt quotation that embraces Damian’s last few months:

Measure for Measure:

"If I must die,
I will encounter darkness as a bride,
And hug it in mine arms."
(Act III, Scene I, Line 82)

A remarkable man with a remarkable character and love for life. Goodbye Damian and God Bless.
