Legal Advice for Same Sex Families

During the course of the last few years, the law has recognised the reality of modern family life and the significant role played by same-sex couples looking after children. June Venters QC is one of those lawyers who was at the forefront of ground-breaking decisions in this field of law (T-v-T [2010] EWCA Civ 1366).

In T-v-T, June Venters QC represented the Appellants. Whilst the Appeal at that time was refused, as a result of negotiations between lawyers which had taken place outside of the Court hearing, the Respondent Father’s agreement was secured and the application sought on behalf of the Appellants was in fact granted. This case was one of the first of its kind which paved the way for subsequent recognition of same-sex couples acquiring the legal status of “parent.”

We advise on the full range of legal issues concerning same-sex family law.

For same-sex families considering donor insemination, surrogacy and adoption we can offer draft agreements to regulate such arrangements and protect your legal position in the future.
